Join us in South Park for a time-traveling adventure! In December 1855, the Wakarusa War began the struggle over whether Kansas would be a free or a slave state, and it happened right here in the Lawrence area. Living historians representing Wakarusa War volunteers and Lawrence townspeople will encamp in South Park, recreating their lives as well as the essential roles of the women and men of Lawrence supporting this local army during a desperate time in our history.
