About the event

Families are invited to join us at the Akin Prairie near Eudora for a short guided walk through the blooming wildflowers lead by botanist Courtney Masterson! This event is free. Walks begin at 3 p.m. and 4p.m. The Akin Prairie in Douglas County provides a splendid setting to identify prairie grasses and wildflowers and to learn about the cultural lore about individual plants. This 16-acre tract of native prairie, protected in perpetuity, memorializes Dorothy Akin and her love of prairie wildflowers. Dorothy’s surviving family donated the conservation easement to KLT in 1994. TYKESWebsite here
