One of the unique aspects of the Lawrence Kids Calendar is that the events and content is curated by a volunteer team of Rotarians who work hard to ensure events are kid-friendly, relevant, and fun!  Let's take a minute to meet our curating team.

Kate Campbell

Kate retired after a career as a teacher, a college administrator, and a manager of learning/development teams in the banking industry.  She first became a Rotarian in 1989 and joined Lawrence Central Rotary when she moved to Kansas in 2011.  Kate has served as club president and helped to launch the club’s Foundation as well as Kids Calendar.  In addition to her Rotary involvement, Kate sings and plays the violin, travels, and volunteers for a number of non-profit organizations.  She has two sons and six grandchildren.

Shelly McColm

Shelly is an orthodontist with a practice in Lawrence and a satellite office in Oskaloosa, KS. Shelly has been a member of Lawrence Central Rotary since 2012 and has served as the club secretary since 2014. Shelly and her husband, Earl, have two daughters. Shelly enjoys traveling, attending sporting events, musicals and plays.

Lynn O'Neal, MD

Lynn is a retired ophthalmologist and former Naval Flight Surgeon.  He grew up an Air Force "brat," but considers Kansas his home. After graduating from Kansas University Medical School in 1977, Lynn spent eight years in the US Naval Medical Corps and then practiced ophthalmology in Lawrence, KS for 26 years, retiring in 2014.  A longtime Rotarian, Lynn was a charter member of Lawrence Central Rotary and has served as club president.  He enjoys traveling, reading, building PCs, participating in Rotary, and visiting with his four grandchildren.

Lee Anne Thompson

Lee Anne works with Qualified Retirement Plans and SIMPLE IRAs at The Trust Company of Kansas.  A Kansas native, she spent many years in Wichita before moving to Lawrence in 2012.  Lee Anne joined Rotary in 2018 and soon became actively involved.  She has served as club president as well as working on the Kids Calendar initiative.  At home, Lee Anne enjoys making music, gardening, and playing with her three dogs.

Cindy Riling

Cindy retired in 2021 from the Douglas County District Attorney’s office as an advocate for victims of crime.  She has always lived in Kansas and made Lawrence her home after marrying a Lawrence boy in 1981.  They share three children and four grandchildren.  Cindy joined Lawrence Central Rotary in 2022 after speaking to the club about another non-profit in which she is involved.  She enjoys spending time with her family which includes four pets, reading, hiking and volunteering.
